Tuna Porridge

A wonderfully comforting food for everyone

Ingredient:

1 x 180g can TC Boy Extra Virgin Olive Oil Tuna, drained

1 cup long grain rice 

5 cup water

1 pc ginger, 3 cm thick 

40g carrot, finely diced

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon pepper

40g spring onion, chopped for garnishing

30g ginger, sliced thinly for garnishing

A little sesame oil

 

Preparation:

1) Boil the rice with water in a pot until the rice is breaking and smooth. 

2) Put in TC Boy Tuna, ginger piece, carrot and salt. Stir occasionally for 15 minutes.  Add more water if it is too thick.

3) Serve in a bowl and garnish with spring onion, pepper, sesame oil and sliced ginger.

 

Tips: 

1. To shorten cooking time, freeze the washed, drained rice grains for at least 4 hours before cooking. Silky smooth porridge can be prepared within 30mins. 

2. When draining the extra virgin olive oil tuna, may put 2 tablespoon of the draining oil to the porridge for silky texture. Clinical studies show that olive oil may lower the risk of heart disease and is good for skin.
